The Silence of the Candidates

The campaign for the local elections is drawing to a close. On behalf of our association, we sent each of the standing lists in the two main municipalities to which Flaine belongs (Arâches-La Frasse and Magland) a number of questions concerning the future of Flaine, the content of which you will find below. The issues affecting our resort are sometimes addressed in the manifestos put forward by these lists, and we can only refer you to them, but we felt they deserved more precise and more committed answers.
We therefore deeply regret that we have received no response. Are the concerns of the people of Flaine of no interest, perhaps given the small number of voters among them ?
Yet the future of our resort is of paramount importance, both for the local authorities and their permanent residents, as well as for the people of Flaine.

The future of Flaine

1. What do you think needs to be done to maintain Flaine’s appeal in the face of competition from major Alpine resorts and other tourist destinations ?
2. What do you consider to be the key projects for Flaine ?
3. How do you see Flaine’s position amongst the resorts of the Grand Massif in the face of climate change ? What thoughts does the GMDS Resilience project inspire in you ? How should visitor numbers be managed in a ski area that is at risk of shrinking ?
4. How do you view the renewal of the ski lift public service contracts ? What do you think needs to be done to prevent a decline in services between now and 2029 ?
5. What synergies with Les Carroz do you think should be developed or strengthened (ski area, golf, hiking trails, shuttle buses, etc.) ?
6. Flaine has a strong cultural identity. How, in your view, can this be preserved and used to raise the resort’s profile ?
7. How do you think the additional revenue generated by the increase in the Flaine residents’ council tax could be used to retain Flaine’s permanent residents ?

The governance of Flaine

8. Are you in favour of transparency in the SIF’s debates and decisions ?
9. Are you in favour of full financial transparency for the SIF (tax revenue and expenditure) ?
10. What, in your opinion, are the ways to increase the SIF’s financial resources ?
11. Flaine is situated within the boundaries of two municipalities. What if these two municipalities were to merge ?
